Tomorrow marks the beginning of February, and consequently the embarrassment of that poor groundhog with a name that nobody can spell. Six more weeks of Winter? An early Spring? Whether that furry ball sees his shadow or not tomorrow is irrelevant: 1. It is impossible to see a shadow with paparazzi flashing cameras and 2. A simple and seamless transition style for this coming month will leave you appropriately dressed for either season.
The key to subtle transition wear is to refrain from prints or colors that scream "Easter pastel" or "January oxblood." A good base of neutrals like grays, beiges, and even ivories can allow freedom in dress. Lately, my staple has been olive green- the great thing about green is that it can be a Fall, cozy color or a cheery, Spring color. Invest in pieces that you know may be worn different ways depending on the temperature. A great go-to option is a classic sweater or wrap dress- when snowy, pair with tights and a long coat. When warmer, pair with riding boots and a scarf. The key in your neutrals is versatility. A lightweight jacket is also a must-have staple. Depending on the forecast, layer with the jacket or let it stand alone and you are comfortable either way! I love military green jackets because I think they work well whether Spring, Winter, or Fall.

Although previously condemned, monochromatic looks can work!!! Try wearing a base of one shade of a color and then accessorizing with different shades- scarves, boots, hat, bag, etc. When done tastefully, monochromatic outfits look chic and effortless.

And if by chance one day the weather is swaying you either way: add a pop of color for a classic yet fun look. Snow day in March? Add deep reds and blues to your look. Ready for Spring Break? I love emerald and amethyst for a refreshing non-pastel look as the weather gets warmer. A classic cocktail ring can go a long way and will never go out of style.
